Hazzan-Maggid Steve Klaper is a Jewish troubadour — a spiritual storyteller, minstrel and teacher. An ordained Cantor, Maggid and teacher of Torah, Steve draws upon his Orthodox Jewish roots and over 50 years experience as a professional musician, infusing Jewish teachings with mystical chant and melodies, sacred tales and wisdom from a variety of traditions. Steve’s teaching is traditionally rooted, yet is engaging and contemporary — it thus takes you to an ancient time and place that feels somehow familiar.

Steve works with his wife, mosaic artist and speaker Mary Gilhuly, and with Franciscan friar Br. Al Mascia, ofm, promoting interfaith reconciliation and creative service through the Song and Spirit Institute for Peace. They present concerts, classes, workshops, retreats and worship experiences at synagogues, churches, mosques, festivals and conferences throughout the country. (songandspirit.org)

In all these endeavors, Steve promotes Deep Ecumenism as an exploration into the ways in which every faith tradition seeks to touch the Mystery.
