THE BOOK OF LIGHT
A Hanukkah of Healing & Hope
What is to give light must endure burning.
Close to winter solstice, Hanukkah comes at the darkest time of the year. More than external darkness, it marks a time of internal and external darkness when the Jewish people had to fight for their right to live as Jews. Each night a small candle leads to another: we are called to increase joy and light every day. Just as the oil lasted, so shall our hope. The miracle is that we didn’t give up and we’re still here! The themes we discuss will mirror the trials of our current struggles as world citizens in this challenging historic time.
Our six classes will include setting an intention, a teaching on the universal themes of Hanukkah below, a writing sprint, and time to share the prose, poetry and collage projects that will fill our journals and hand-made books that we work on in class and at home in between sessions.
